ryan for kaberla both teams need it, burke wants it.

August 14, 2010

Bobby Ryan is on the leafs radar. Burke was the person who picked ryan, I don’t think any doubts that burke would love to add him to the leafs lineup. He would have no problem sending kaberla the other way. The ducks on the other hand don’t think that kaberla is worth giving up ryan. Which i agree with. But on the other hand anyone else remember who the ducks top d-man was last season? Scott Neider. Who the ducks have not replaced yet. Kaberla would be the perfect player to step into neiders shoes. The ducks could replace ryan with Kariya(I know a step down but thats the cap system for yeah). Well they could replace Ryan now there is only one player who is on the market who could replace neider. Kaberla. So the ducks need these deal, but i have doubts they are willing to say yes to a kaberla ryan deal, in less the leafs decide to add something else to the mix. Note: the ducks have a offer on the table for kaberla.

What bettman is really saying. And why he is wrong.

August 12, 2010

Gary Bettman likes to be in control. Something he has difficulty doing. Mainly because half the time everyone is trying to figure out wtf  he is talking about. “Phoenix is a great hockey market.” Oh yes I can tell by the fact they are losing money every time they play a game. “This team is not bankrupt”(but they have no money). This is just a example of what bettman has been doing for the last 20 some years. It’s hard for a league to get behind someone when they don’t have any idea where that person is coming from. So if you can’t say what you want to say with words what do you do? You turn towards actions. Let’s look at bettmans actions over the last year or so. He fined the leafs for a contract he had already allowed. He kept a team in a city that had no true fan bass what so every. He said that players should not go to the Olympics. What else? Well he stopped the kovalchuk  deal. And now he is turning around and saying to the bruins, hawks, canucks, and flyers “You know those contracts I said was all cool well um funny thing about that is I may void those deals and make them UFAs then fine you money and/or cap space so you can’t resign them. but we still cool right?”

What is bettman trying to say with all this? Well it’s not to hard to figure out. “This is my league and i well do whatever i want with it. You don’t like it? Well to bad.” Well bettman I have something to say to you. “This is not your league it is our league the fans. Without us there is no NHL. No income for teams. you don’t have a job. So stop acting like the NHL belongs to you. It is ours and it always well be. You don’t like it? Well to bad.”

kovalchuk 17 to russia

August 3, 2010

Was anyone else shocked when kovalchuk signed a 17 year deal with the devils? I know I was. Mainly because of his age. but the devils felt it was a good deal for them. But the reason why that is is that they kinda played around with the terms of his contract.  The way the cap system works(or doesn’t work) is that depending on the term of the players contract his cap hit can be a certain amount lower or higher than the players pay(based on percent). Now the kovalchuk deal would have a cap hit less than his pay. The NHL claims that the difference between pay and cap hit is outside the X% that is allowed. Now depending on the ruling on the kovalchuk deal he well either end up signing 17 years with jersey( not playing 17) or somewhere else. Now I know kovelchuk says he doesn’t want to play in KHL but I have a feeling he well pull a jagr.  Jagr would be in the NHL if the rangers had wanted him back. Jagr said he didn’t want to play in russia. Yet he signed in the KHL because the rangers didn’t want him back. I’m probably wrong but kovelchuk well either be a devil or be a KHLer. That being said if devils don’t get him look to LA and the rangers to make a big push to get the russia sniper in the fold.

to russia with love?

February 22, 2010

the winter olympics are in russia next. There is going to be nhlers there. The russians well not miss it. They will leave the NHL to play for their country; but should they? Yes. The olympics are supposed to be the best of the best competing against each other. Underline supposed. So let me get this straight, were going  to hold the olympics WITHOUT the best hockey players? Any Latvians reading this are like “hell ya we gonna win a game.” If you are going to hold the olympics you want it to be the best of all time (which is hard to begin with) don’t make it harder by not having the best players in the world there. Russia should be calling Bettman NOW and getting him on board. I know it seems a long way away but 2006 seems like yesterday, don’t wait Russia Bettman is slow its gonna take a year just to start up his brain.
