A Win Would Be Nice; A Win Is What We Got!!

March 10, 2010

Hard fought? lucky? Yeah, that about sums it up!

After the first period, it looked like it was going to be another long night for our Ottawa Senators, scoring just 3 times in 10 periods, and then we run into an unbeatable goalie. Jason D(sp?) was very sharp, but in the 3rd period, he finally cracked.

So the Sens sailed on to be what was an easy 4-1 win, as they got into the Oilers head, and got about 4 powerplays in that 3rd period alone.

We continue our Canadian West road trip into the city of Calgary on Thursday night!

GO SENS GO!!!

A Win Would Be Nice!

March 9, 2010

The team is still boggled with a few injuries in Kuba and Foligno, but the good news as of late is that the flu bug has finally left the locker room.

The Senators could be called desperate for a win coming into this game, as they have lost all 3 games since the olympic break, and those games in which were played against teams that all currently sit outside of the post season. Well tonight is no different, as we lace up to take on a very much struggling Oilers team. The senators have to get back to their dominance in game, and tonight there is no better chance.

It is a road game, which means we may struggle a bit. But, keep in mind, even though we were on an unbeatable role before the break, it is still possible to miss the post season; especially because only 5 of our remaining season games are at home. So Canada, and Sens fans, its time to bring back that olympic slogan. DO YOU BELIEVE?  The standings are close!

GAME TONIGHT – OTTAWA SENATORS @ EDMONTON OILERS – 9:30 ET/ 10:30/AT – ROGERS Sportnet East

GO SENS GO!!!

Now, Where Were We? CANADA; SENATORS

(WE HAVE SEEN IT A MILLION TIMES…BUT IT NEVER GETS OLD)

Oh yes, Canada wins gold in one hell of a hockey game. It was an interesting game from the get go, and we are still proudly boasting the big goal scored by Sidney Crosby in overtime. Some would say that the goal was the goal of our time, as the Paul Henderson goal was the goal of the last generations time. (My Dad don’t seem to think so as he said “that goal that henderson ended a war”, sure dad!) Point being, in the end, Canada won not only the most golds as a host nation in the winter games, but also the most gold ever won by any nation in the winter olympics. Good job Canada, we certainly did own that podium. Lookout Russia, here we come! (2014)

Previously, collegue John King had blogged about NHLers and how Gary Bettman doesn’t want his players participating in the 2014 games, is this legitimate? Mr. King indirectly said hell no, but right now some sens fans may have a different opinion. Going into the break we were on a role winning 14 of 16 games, and were showing no signs of slowing down …. then came this Vancouver 2010 Olympic break … One of bettmans many arguements is that its not fair to a team that is on a streak to have to go on a break, and right now for the Ottawa Senators, they couldn’t agree anymore.

Since the return off the break, the Senators have been nothing short of terrible. They lost to the Rangers, the (28th) Hurricanes, the (29th) Leafs, and this now has them setting 0-2-1 since returning to the action. Their next game is against the Oilers who are in dead last.

I will give credit where credit is due however, as the Senators did a good job stretching the game into Overtime last night. They were sick, very sick, this in a literal sense. Today was “season ticket appreciation day”, but it had to be postponed. This shows just how sick 1/2 the Senators roster really is.

Hopefully we can get back to our perfect 100% healthy selves, and start stringing together some wins in this final stretch.

Fans, we only have 5 home games left, and 11 road games so its time to start rallying up some points in this crucial push!

NEXT GAME: Ottawa Senators @ Edmonton Oilers -> 9:30pm/ET (10:30 AT) -> Only on Sportsnet East!

GO CANADA GO …. GO SENS GO!!!
